For seven years we’ve helped the FERN, an investigative journalism non-profit in New York, amplify their stories’ reach. From donation systems to tools for distributing articles to in-site promotion systems, we’ve built it. It’s a comprehensive non-profit journalism online tool.

We designed and coded it.

Homepage with hierarchy

Leaning hard on visual hierarchy, we created order and balance between featured stories, latest articles, promotional information and related content.

Robust donation system

Custom donation system including monthly and one-time donations, gift management for different giving levels, and notifications. All on one page!

Custom promotion pages

Using our flexible donation system, the client can create new donation pages for special offers and events.

Working with South Bend has been a fantastic experience. Jeff’s design and development skills are unmatched. Projects come in on time and on budget and look amazing. Every time.

A map of their own

This custom map uses the Google Maps API to show where in the U.S. stories have taken place, by both region and city.

Informative article pages

Keeping the focus on the content, we added layers of information and in-site linking to each article page. Plus, a gorgeous image gallery that creates itself from images in the story.

Published everywhere

Custom work to publish on Facebook instant articles, Google AMP, and Apple News.
